This article explains how to add a photo widget on an iPhone.

To use iPhone widgets like the photo widget, you need to have iOS 14.0 or newer.

How Do I Add a Photo Widget on iPhone?

You can customize your iPhone’s home screen in a variety of ways, and adding a photo widget is one of the options. When you add the photo widget to your home screen, a selection of your photos will appear in a set position. You can move the location of the widget if you don't like where the system put the widget.

Here’s how to add the photo widget on iPhone:

  1. Press and hold an empty area on your screen until the icons start to jiggle.

  2. Tap the + symbol on the top right.

  3. Swipe down until you reach the list of widgets, and then tap Photos.

Several popular widgets are automatically listed at the top of this menu. If you see the photos widget here at the top, you can tap it instead of scrolling down and tapping the photos app icon.

  4. Swipe right and left to examine and choose a widget size.

  5. When you know which widget size you want, tap Add Widget.

  6. The photo widget will appear on your screen.

  7. To move the photos widget, press and hold an empty space on the screen.

  8. When the icons start jiggling, press and hold the photo widget.

  9. Drag the photo widget to a new location.

  10. Release the photo widget.

  11. Tap an empty area of the screen, and the widget will be locked in its new location.

How Can I Change Photo Widget Pictures on iPhone?

You can select the size and location of the photos widget on your iPhone, but you can’t choose specific iPhone photo albums or photos to appear in the widget. Apple uses an algorithm to automatically select your best shots, and there’s no way to force specific pictures to appear, to prevent it from showing specific people, or even steer it in any particular direction.

The only control you have over the content of the photo widget on the iPhone is to prevent it from showing specific images the algorithm has already picked out. If you see a photo in the widget you don’t want to see in the widget, you can open it in the Photos app and opt to remove it from your featured photos. That will prevent the photo widget from displaying that particular image in the future.

Here’s how to remove an image from the photo widget on iPhone:

  1. Wait for the photo you want to remove to appear in the widget.

  2. Tap the photo.

  3. Tap the Share icon.

  4. Tap Remove from Featured Photos.

  5. The photo will no longer appear in your photo widget.

Since iOS 14, Apple has enabled new widgets to be used on the Home screens of iPhones and iPads. You can now customize the look of your Home screen, with hundreds of options to choose from. One popular widget is the Photos widget, used to display a photo from your library on your home screen.

The ‌Photos‌ widget is from Apple's stock ‌Photos‌ app, and it is available in three sizes. The photo displayed changes every hour. However, you are not able to select what photo appears at any given time. Instead, the ‌Photos‌ app dynamically selects a photo to display on the widget for you, so you cannot select what image or images you want to appear.

Apple's ‌Photos‌ widget allows users to have a rotating photo from your photo library displayed with no additional effort required. However, if you only want to display a fixed photo, or rotate through a selection of specific photos, you will need to use a third-party app. There are many widget apps that allow you to select photos to display available on the App Store.

One of the more simple apps is called "Photo Widget : Simple." This app allows you to select up to 30 photos to display on a home screen widget. The app supports all three widget sizes, and you can even set an amount of time before images rotate if you have selected more than one.

The following steps explain how you can set a single photo to display on a widget using Photo Widget : Simple, but other equivalent apps are available.

  1. Download the Photo Widget : Simple app.
  2. Open the app.
  3. Tap the + in the middle of the screen.
  4. Select the photo you want to display on your home screen.
  5. Mettre des widget photo sur iphone

  6. Return to the home screen.
  7. Hold down on any empty space on the home screen to activate "jiggle mode."
  8. Tap the + in the top left corner.
  9. Navigate to the Photo Widget option and select it.
  10. Mettre des widget photo sur iphone

  11. See the three available widget sizes by swiping left and right. Select one of the widget sizes as per your preference by tapping Add Widget.
  12. You can now drag the widget around and place it wherever you choose.
  13. Tap Done.
  14. Mettre des widget photo sur iphone

To add more than one photo to rotate on the widget, simply repeat steps two to four. You may wish to hide the Photo Widget app in the App Library once you have finished creating your widget.
